This may be my favorite post of the month!
Have I ever told you the story of how I picked out the name for our new little baby?
No?
Well in the last episode you learned about our history. (and a little of my wife's contraception habits)
So you know about little Corwin and little Isabella.
Those two names have been in many hearts and prayers and a few A to Z blog posts. Over the years, the letter's C and I have always been tough letters for me to get through.
Back to the story...
I was sitting at work one day, not too long ago, eating lunch in my customary spot. I generally sit alone, reading a book and trying to eat at the same time. I don't sit at a table, just a single chair and a good portion of my lunch either ends up on my shirt or my book.
This particular day I was without a book. I either forgot it at home or perhaps I was in between books at the moment, I don't recall.
For the prior two weeks, I had been researching baby names. The first week I was searching for both genders but by the second week our OB had narrowed our search down to one gender thanks to the ultrasound machine!
So here I am chomping away on a turkey sandwich, smartphone in hand, scrolling through the baby names when it hits me... it hits me hard. My eyes immediately well up with tears and I am overcome with emotion. I found the name! It wasn't on my smartphone either.
I had always loved the names of my lost children and I found a way to love them all at once, every day, every time I spoke the new babies name.
I would name her:
Corabella
Cora from Corwin and Bella from Isabella.
So there you have it. In a few weeks I will be able to introduce you to:
Miss Corabella Rose Bushman

That's a wonderful way to honor all of your daughters.
ReplyDeleteAnd I can't wait to meet her :) I love how you came up with her name and I'm sure when she is old enough you will tell her the story of Corwin and Isabella.

ReplyDeleteBTW, I gave you a holler over at my place.
