Bushman Heads North

Hello my dear readers,

It is that time of year again.  Today I make my annual pilgrimage to the great north woods for a week-long hunting adventure.

This year I will be going without my Pops and without my step-son Joe or my older brother Bill.

I sat here this morning looking at all the pics and watching the videos and tearing up that my fellow hunters will not be here this year.

I do, however. have a new addition to hunt camp and that is my little brother Brian.

I feel a lot better knowing I have some blood with me.  We are starting a new camp this year.  It is closer than the old one.  2.5 hour drive, doorstep to camp, vs. 4.5

This is a 44-acre chunk of private land surrounded on 3 sides by hundreds of acres of state land and bordered to the south by more private land.  I have been bow hunting this spot for a couple weeks now and it is looking pretty good.  I have seen plenty of deer and deer sign.  The property is nice and I set up camp a few weeks ago so everything is there already.  All I need is to pack my clothes and food and my gun/bow and I'm outta here.

I haven't thought of a new name for this camp.  I'm sure Brian and I will come up with something.

I am leaving this morning and will be back sometime later next week.  I have the next two weeks off work so I can stay as long as needed. (or until the beer runs out)

This year's packing was easy as there is only two of us and Brian won't be up until Saturday night and will leave by Wednesday.

On the menu I have:
Cheddar/Bacon Bratwurst
Chilli
Pork Chops and Baked Potato
Koegel's Hot Dogs
Hobo Dinner  (smoked sausage, potatoes and onions wrapped in foil and placed in the coals)
Chicken Wings, French Fries and Fried pickles

Plus I have eggs galore from my faithful chickens, Ham, Sausage, Biscuits and Gravy, Hashbrowns and OJ for breakfast.

A combination of soups and crackers for lunches as well.

We will eat well.

Until next week, I bid you farewell and wish us luck!

PS.  Dad is recovering from surgery and will hopefully be home today.
We have a fetal heartbeat monitor now so last night I was able to listen to Corabella.  It's the        only way she can communicate for now and I love it (and her!)

  1. You and Brian have a good time together. I'm sure by the end of your stay you will find a suitable name for your new camp.

  2. Sounds like a fun week (or more) ahead with hunting; glad your brother will be around for a bit of it too :)

Soon Corabella will be communicating with moving around a bit I would imagine :)
